Fish Fridays
For its Fish Fridays, LL Dent serves up a Southern-style dish consisting of a fried whiting fish filet. "It is in the Cod family. It is very flaky and has a sweet flavor," said Leisa Dent, Chef/Co-Owner, LL Dent Restaurant.
Customers who order fish can choose from a variety of side dishes: collard greens with smoked turkey, candied yams, baked macaroni and cheese, Cole slaw, grits, potato salad, house salad, Hoppin John (black-eyed peas and rice), stewed cabbage or baked sweet potato.
Since the restaurant's opening in 2005, LL Dent has held its "Fish Fridays," making it ideal for those who observe Lent. "I grew up with the Christian tradition of abstaining from meat on Fridays," Ms. Dent said. "With the Lenten season upon us, Fish Fridays gives diners an opportunity to observe their religious traditions and still be able to enjoy a good meal."
